Dr. Brian Walcott, neurosurgeon at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

My practice

I am a Harvard-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon with a primary focus on vascular disease and tumors of the brain and spine.

My practice also includes spine surgery, trauma, surgery for trigeminal neuralgia, pediatric vascular disease, and surgical treatment of spinal fluid disorders. I perform open microsurgery, including cerebrovascular bypass, and minimally invasive endovascular procedures with flow diverting stents, liquid embolic agents, and intrasaccular devices, and I treat selected conditions with stereotactic radiosurgery.

Because I offer all of these approaches, your treatment is chosen for your condition rather than limited to a single technique. Over my career I have treated more than 750 brain aneurysms and 500 ischemic strokes, and provided radiosurgery for hundreds of patients with tumors, vascular disorders, and functional disorders.

Santa Barbara, start to finish

I live and work here. Consultations take place at my office on Fletcher Avenue, procedures take place at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and follow-up stays with the same surgeon and team.

Cottage is a 519-bed acute care teaching hospital, designated a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level 1 Trauma Center.
